I’m looking forward to the next in the series. I loved this film and especially the daemons.

I just saw the film and saw it without any knowledge of all the controversy behind it. I have to say that I saw it in the anticipation of a great fantasy film and was not disappointed. I would consider myself a good christain but so far have not witnessed any just demise of the concept of God. Maybe the author is an Atheist but he has his oppinion and I support free speech. I do not however have children so my thoughts are not influenced by what they might think. I do think it is important to have all opinions out ther in the universe to choose from ,so if free speech and thoughts were lost what kind of world would we live in?

I loved the film, but it’s very rushed, seriously, make and extended edition.

I’d like to take this “golden” opportunity to mention that overall the movie was more bronze than “golden”.

I’m a bit confused with the ending. It clearly was made, just seemed to be missing from the film. If anyone has read the books, they would have noticed that the film was lacking the last three chapters from the book, which have been advertised in the movie trailer.
I am curious to know why the director felt it necessary to exclude such a vital scene.
In my point of view, the beginnings and endings are the most important; they either make or break a film.
Unfortunately the lack of an end in this movie, ruined the movie for me, and i am INCREDABLY disappointed. I feel that the movie had done a great and breathtaking job, until the end. It is a shame that they left out that one scene, as if they hadn’t the movie would have been perfect!

I wondering why a few scenes which contained in the Official Full Trailer is not showing in the theatrical version did not show?
Just like Daniel Craig as Lord Asriel in the film does open the new world scene and Dakota Blue Richards as Lyra Belacqua shouting to Nicole as Mrs Coulter scene, both have shown in trailer but after watch the movie, it make me dissapointment. So is it any extended edition will be realease in future in DVD form? -

I thoroughly enjoyed the film. I know children will love it. I reject all those half-hearted comments I have read and heard during the last few days (for example, BBC 2’s ‘Newsnight Review’). I was gripped from beginning to end. It has nothing of the intoxication with effects that marred the second two episodes of ‘The Lord of the Rings’ (which, in addition, couldn’t really face up to Frodo’s self-betrayal — e.g. Why weren’t we shown Gandalf in sad colloquy with him afterwards? — or better, Frodo hiding his injured hand?). If you have read ‘His Dark Materials’, the plot of this film presents no problems at all. I think its success is largely due to the splendid acting on all sides, especially that of Dakota Blue Richards. Bring on the next two episodes — at each Christmas as before — I loved waiting for them and seeing them with my grandchildren.

I totally agree with Ebert, the film is marvelous. Many details were changed from the book, but these improved the flow for the films time constraint. (This is in contrast to the latest Harry Potter movie that was faithful to the book at the expense of flow and character development.) Kudos to the writers of the screenplay, the actors, special effects personnel and most of all to the director. My grandaughter was as impressed as I. We are hoping for the sequels.

I have to say the acting and animation is wonderful! No expense was spared. The only complaint I have is the plot was weak and that it is a to be continued movie. I dislike the fact that filmmakers are making to be continued movies and not making the movie a stand-alone project. I feel this movie could have been combined with the other books and finished the project. I would rather sit in a 3 hr long movie than support this kind of movie. I will not see the second movie until the third one is completed.
I have concerns that if a movie doesn’t do well in the box office they wont finish the rest of the films or that it takes years between the movies.
Thank you,
Jina
