At The Golden Compass Press Conference, director Chris Weitz says special effects leave film fans ‘jaded.’

“Audiences have been hit over the head (by effects) in the last decade.” Weitz is doing his best to change that with The Golden Compass, adding, “For me the main challenge is to imbue humanity and spirit into these special effects.”
